You are an expat and living in The Netherlands? Have you settled? Can you adjust to Dutch culture and way of living? Do you live here with your family? Does everyone respond to his or her new environment in the same way? If you came here as a single, chances are you meet your significant other or already have, and want to make the next step. Move in together, or get married! And what happens when you have a child? Are you aware of the legal consequences these steps bring about, or when you break up? What happens then? All complicated matters and even more when you live abroad.

As family lawyers we often get introduced with people, young families, when trouble starts. However, we would like to raise awareness of parts of Dutch family law upfront, and prevent troubles afterwards.

Nature awakens. The buds on the trees turn green. Branches sprout, sometimes intertwined with one another. What still felt cold a week ago is now tending towards being on the cool side. The sun rises higher and higher in the sky. And then, all at once, the first common grape hyacinths appear. By the afternoon, there are already five, and the following day, the first sea of blue bulbs appeared. Spring is here! And where better to experience the spring than at Keukenhof? See spring in all its splendour for two whole months.

Combi-tickets for the Keukenhof (located in Lisse) are available at the Tourist Office Leiden / VVV Leiden (the Expat Centre is a part of the Tourist Office Leiden), Stationsweg 26, Leiden.

The combi-ticket includes the busride with Arriva bus 854 (Leiden Central Station – Keukenhof and back from Keukenhof to Leiden Central Station) and the entrance to Keukenhof.

From the early influx of Belgians and French Huguenots, the migration of the English Pilgrim Fathers, Moroccan industry labourers to Chinese and Italian knowledge workers who contribute nowadays to the flourishing of the Bio Science Park behind the Central Station.

Of course, we will also visit highlights like the Burcht and the Lakenhal. After our walk, you can join us for a free drink - and conversations - at a beautiful historical location.

Who are we? We are a group of historians and experienced city guides with a passion for the city we live in. We love to share this passion with visitors and new residents of Leiden.

When: The tours starts at 14:00 on March 20th (Sunday) and lasts approximately 2 hours.
